Freedom of information (FOI) and the transparent state
A report by the Bertelsmann Foundation and the Europaische Akademie fur
Informationsfreiheit und Datenschutz [European Academy for Freedom of
Information and Data Protection] identifies the necessary principles for
freedom of information (FOI) legislation. This analysis is intended to
help to bring about the long overdue implementation of such a law in
Germany (Germany and Luxembourg are the only EU member states that do
not have a freedom of information act - FOIA). Use of e-government
technology is among the recommendations for the FOIA.
