Central Command warns Internet users of a fast spreading worm
named Worm/MyParty
MEDINA, Ohio January 28, 2002 - Central Command, a leading
provider of PC anti-virus software and computer security
services, announces the discovery of Worm/MyParty. This new
Internet worm uniquely disguises itself as a website link to
www.myparty.yahoo.com to trick e-mail recipients into opening the
attached file.

Description:
Worm/MyParty is a mass mailing Internet worm that is spreading
through e-mail. It uses its own special SMTP routine to send
unsolicited email messages to those addresses obtained from a
search within the Windows address book. The attachment disguises
itself as a website.
The worm spreads via e-mail, and an infected message appears as
follows:
Subject: new photos from my party!
Body: Hello!
My party... It was absolutely amazing!
I have attached my web page with new photos!
If you can please make color prints of my photos. Thanks!

"We have reports of this virus infecting people in over 47
different countries and expect the virus infection reports to
rise throughout the day because of people's natural curiosity,"
said Steven Sundermeier, product manager at Central Command, Inc.
"The social engineering of this attachment might allow this one
to take off as more people get into the office this morning."

detect and stop this worm.
